Standard all-wheel drive systems, intended primarily to improve handling safety, have some form of clutch between the front and rear wheels.
Power gets to the wheels through a paddle-controlled five-speed automatic transmission and an electronically controlled all-wheel-drive system that can vary torque not only front to back but between the rear wheels to provide optimum power to each wheel in any type of driving maneuver.
This engine produces 305 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque, an increase of 25 horsepower and 19 pound-feet of torque over the standard TL, achieved by increasing engine capacity from 3.5 liters to 3.7 liters.
