Smart Fortwo - Compact Cars

Manufactured by Smart GmbH, The Smart Fortwo is a two-seater rear-engined city car.
It features an automated manual transmission without a clutch pedal, 5-speed for the second, 6-speed for the first generation. Input from optional steering wheel-mounted paddles control a servo-operated clutch and sequential automated gearbox or floor-mounted shifter.

The vehicle may be driven in automatic mode, though the shift points are not as smooth as in a conventional automatic transmission. In paddle shifter mode, the mechanic controls the shift points but cannot feather or adjust the speed of the clutch. Thus some ability, It is required to achieve a smooth shift by a slight lifting of the accelerator pedal.
