Audi R8 LMX 2015

Audi, the leading developer of technology applied to automotive lighting, continues its tradition of using race to test new technologies for production and this summer will give you another example with the new Audi R8 LMX, the first production car laser beam which goes on sale this summer in a limited edition of 99 units.

The litmus test of the new Audi laser lighting will be the legendary career of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, held on 14 and 15 June, and where the new Audi R18 e-tron quattro uses a combination of LED headlamps and laser for the first time in competition.

Audi began a new chapter in automotive lighting Matrix LED headlights, which debuted in updating the A8 in 2013.

Now the brand with the four rings initiates the next step in the Audi R8 LMX: laser headlights for beams. The laser beam substantially increase the field of view, making it ideal for a supercar like the R8 LMX, further develops an output of 570 horsepower and acceleration from 0-60 mph in 3.2 seconds.

This super sports car goes on sale this summer with a limited edition of only 99 units, so it is called to immediately become a collector's item, not only for its innovative technology, but by their design features and performance.

More light, more safety

With this new technology a laser module for each beacon generates a cone of light with twice the range of LED headlights.

Each module includes four high-power diode laser with a diameter of only 300 micrometers, which generate a blue laser light beam with a wavelength of 450 nanometers.

A phosphor converter transforms this white light beam suitable for circular, with a color temperature of 5500 Kelvin, the ideal conditions for the human eye, allowing the driver to recognize contrasts more easily and helps prevent fatigue.

The laser light, which is activated above the 37.5 miles per hour (60 km / h), complements the LED light beam in the Audi R8 LMX, and significantly improves visibility and safety . A sensor based on images from a camera detects other road users and actively adjusts the light pattern.

Power and performance 100% Audi

The engine of the R8 high-performance LMX in central position, independent suspension and double wishbones made of aluminum body with ASF (Audi Space Frame) technology are based on the specifications suitable for racing.

With 570 hp power, engine 5.2 liter V10 allows an acceleration of 0-60 mph in just 3.2 seconds (100 km / h in 3.4 seconds) and reaches top speed of 200 miles per hour (320 km / h.).

The transmission is a seven-speed S Tronic transferring power to the drive system quattro permanent comprehensive, with an average consumption of 22 miles per gallon you get gasoline (12.9 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers) something remarkable for a car of such benefits.
