UNI-CUB-Honda Advanced Technology

The scooter and motorcycle manufacturer Honda has announced the new UNI-CUB personal mobility device, an electric, self-balancing, in relation to the swing weight of the driver, competing with devices like the Segway. The main difference between the Segway and UNI-CUB is the fact that has a comfortable design that allows the rider to drive in a reclined position.
UNI-CUB Personal Mobility Device
The UNI-CUB represents the evolution of the personal mobility device U3-X Honda announced that in 2009, the balance control technology and the first omni-directional driving wheel system (Honda Omni Traction Drive System). These technologies allow the rider to control the speed, moving in any direction, allowing you to perform 360 degrees spins and stops, all by simply tilting your weight. Since the pilot is free to move forward, backward, side to side and diagonally, he or she can quickly and easily maneuvers between pedestrians.

Although the rider sits in a sitting position in the UNI-CUB, allows the rider's legs to reach the ground, while maintaining the relative distance to other pedestrian's eyes. This configuration promotes harmony between the pilot and the other, letting the driver maneuver freely and comfortably within the facility and between other people around you.

The UNI-CUB technically moves through a system, Roll, with a large wheel, indicating the direction you are going, plus many small wheels or tires, which arranged horizontally, turn the wheels toward small moving left / right, moving diagonally turning both large and small wheels.

The UNI-CUB has a highest possible speed of about 3 miles per hour and can travel up to two miles on a single charge. Honda has not announced production plans, but as of June 2012, Honda will jointly conduct demonstration testing of the UNI-CUB with the Japanese National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation. Addition to testing the feasibility of using UNI-CUB, this project will explore the practical applications of the device in a wide range of environments in Japan and other countries.
