The 488 GTB is a sport marked by the line of its predecessor, the 458 Italia. The name chosen for this model refers to the unit cylinder turbo V8 engine of 3,902 cc, which offers 488 cc per cylinder. But the name 488 GTB is also a tribute to the 308 GTB, the latter being the first V8-engined Ferrari.
If we analyze the data sheet of this model we see that the 488 GTB has 4.56 m long, 1.95 m wide and 1.21 m just high. Figures are studying and comparing the 458 Italia, the variations are minimal 488 GT being slightly longer. A weight level things change, the 458 Italia marks a weight of 1,560 kg (including the driver), while the 488 GTB marks a dry weight of 1,370 kg with all options lightening. So the actual weight must be placed around the 1,470 kg.
Aesthetically the 488 GTB has a very similar design to its predecessor, but has marked small cosmetic changes to improve its aerodynamics (50% support compared to 458 in Italy). The finish on the back and sides are perhaps not as polished as its predecessor by the above reason, but serve as a tribute to the lateral grooves that had the 308 GTB. But thanks to this less aesthetic and more "tortuous" 488 GTB design features active aerodynamics with airbrake and with a flat bottom that generates vortices which make it more stable.
Inside virtually nailed to the 458 Italia design is appreciated, but stresses the design of the central bridge, which is completely new. Perhaps the most curious detail of the interior part of its implementation, is the car key. That looks like a V8 engine and has functions of "smart key" (similar to that offered by the BMW i8), which allows to start the car with a button.
Mechanically its most important section is definitely your engine. It is a V8 3.9 to 90 liters (3,902 cc) supercharged by two turbochargers, allowing to obtain 670 GTB 488 hp at 8000 rpm and a torque of 760 Nm at 3000 rpm. When compared again with the 458 Italia is 100 hp more power and torque increase of 220 Nm. The gearbox associated with the engine will be entirely automatic dual clutch, and has a new system known as "Torque Management", which delivers the torque in an increasing and continuous. Allowing when changing gear to do it without hollowing the accelerator pedal is actuated when the cam right.
Along with this new biturbo engine, Ferrari incorporates a new control system sideslip angle, referred to as "Slide Slip", which is more accurate and less intrusive, allowing the 488 GTB a greater capacity of longitudinal acceleration. This integrated with the F1-Trac and E-Diff systems (electronic differential Ferrari), along with a set of active dampers.
With all these features the 488 GTB is able to accelerate from 0-100 km / h in 3 seconds, and 0-200 km / h from standstill in 8.3 seconds. While the maximum speed stands at 330 km / h. Its average fuel consumption is 11.4 l / 100 km, posting CO2 emissions of 260 g / km.
Face presentation to the public of the 488 GTB be held at the Geneva Motor Show, within a month.
