Peugeot 208 R5 Rally Car 2013

The Type 208 R5 will be presented at the Paris Motor Show 2012. Their shapes and specifications perpetuate the tradition of Peugeot in rallying. Prepared for asphalt and earth, will debut in competition and will start selling in the second half of 2013 in order to embark on the conquest of national and international championships in 2014.

The new model benefits from the knowledge and experience acquired the company for many years. Led by Alexis Avril, technical manager of Peugeot Sport, Bertrand Vallat, which dealt with the development of the Peugeot 207 S2000, is the project manager.

The Peugeot 208 Type R5 leverages the evolution of Peugeot 208 , especially at the weight. The body of a lightening benefits of around 40 kilos with respect to the Peugeot 207, and is more compact. Thanks to its long wheelbase, the chassis offers greater stability.

Mechanically, the Type 208 R5 has four wheel drive, five-speed sequential gearbox and two locking differentials. Its 1.6 16V engine offers 280 hp at 6,000 rpm and a torque of 400 Nm at 2,500 rpm.

The new model has a broad program of tests during 2012 on asphalt and dirt. Peugeot hopes to continue developing his car to deliver continuous improvements throughout its commercial life. In terms of competition, the Peugeot 208 Type R5 fight in several categories: Intercontinental Rally Challenge, European Rally Championship and National Championships.
